What's better than Ben 10?
Ben Jordan 8, of course! Mr Grundislav has finally released the final chapter of the much acclaimed Ben Jordan series and finally we will see if Snape will kill Voldemort, or something like that. Join the discussion in the forums, or go the the game page for more. So, can anyone spell denouement?

1000 Postiversary special: Celebrity Top 10!
Well, The AGS blog has hit post #1000 and thank you everyone who has been reading all this time and despite the recent decline in the size of my posts to just linking to other people's articles. At least Dual still actually writes stuff!
Anyway, I went to a number of AGS Celebrities and asked them for their top 3s. Actually, I asked for game series but only Ben304 actually read my message properly. And also some celebrities said they'd give me a list but then didn't.... you know who you are!
Without further ado, here's the list. We'll start with Ben "304" Chandler's list of his favourite series:

The series with the weirdest numbering ever, going 1, 2, 3, 0, 4, X1, H1, X2, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3! This series features lots of pneumatic girls and a unique and colourful art style. Initially a spoof of Blade Runner of sorts, I think its evolved into entirely its own wonderful world.
Created by the Herculean efforts of two brothers, the great art, music and fun of these two games (one of which was deluxified) won them a huge swathe of AGS Awards that you can't argue with.
In the last year these 3 cracking games have come out and each one improves its gameplay from the previous. If only all AGS authors could generate such quality AND quantity. Maybe that's why Ben likes them...
Next is Mr Mark Lovegrove, also known as m0ds.
m0ds says "Not a point & click adventure, but a wonderful turn based game." The only person in the list to get two mentions, Technocrat gives us (in the same few months as he made Technobabylon, etc) a strategy game with multiplayer and single player options. Wow. It won 2 AGS awards: programming and best non-adventure.
m0ds says "I like remakes and I like sequels, and I like it when people take old AGS games and make new ones. Red Flagg remake doesn't take much time to play, and it's just loverly!"
m0ds says "Such a mellow, rewarding but easy to play game in the series. One of few AGS games I've sat and played with other people, and one of the few games I'm happy just to sit and watch other people play."
Mr Khris has also given his favourites:
Yahtzee's last "proper" adventure game, as it turns out. Opinions are divided, but Khris likes it. So did enough people to give it best story and best Non-Player Character AGS Awards. Good old Trilby was a very popular character in all his many games!
Bernie's mini MAGS masterpiece pleases on many many levels. Winner of best puzzles and best short game in the AGS Awards that year, unfortunately AGS database wrongly shows he didn't make other games, but he is also responsible for the fabulous Reactor 09.
Theodor Waern's game won a record number of AGS awards and is undergoing a remake in higher resolution ready for going commercial. Another example of some of the excellence that AGS can generate.
And everybody's favourite Monkey_05_06:
Nominating fellow-nominator Ben304, this is perhaps a lesser known one from the prolific Mr Chandler. Maybe its because its more of a story than a game, but a great little story at that. Ben's usually awesome and atmospheric graphics are there throughout.
Radiant's Crystal Shard studio produced this Harry Potter parody and voices were provided by the Mittens attendees one year. Quite tricky for some people, but has a place in the hearts of many.
Well, you can hardly have a top AGS game list without something from Yahtzee, Grundislav and... Dave Gilbert. Perhaps not the one you'd expect, but this AGS Team competition winner is an interesting precursor to some game mechanics from Dave's other games.
Some of you may have noticed that this is actually 12 games, not 10, but who's counting!

TOP TEN: BEST AGS GAMES
For more top 10s, see Celebrity AGSers Top Games and Top 10 game series
10. Permanent Daylight
Not sure if it's remembered by many AGS members, but this got me into playing AGS games. A very short game, but without lacking anything in fun and humor. And totally one of the most memorable introductions. 2ma2, I wholeheartedly thank you!
Imagine a plot that's been used so much it always is considered a parody nowadays.. It's a mad scientist who's detroying the world! It feautures Dieter Kartoffelbrei as the hero, Dr. Really Really Evil Ed as the mad scientist and an amount of other characters which will mock you on your quest.
9. Ben Jordan PI: Case 3 - The Sorceress of Smailholm
When Grundislav made Ben Jordan 1 and 2, nobody cared. Then came Case 3, what fans of the series confirm to be the best game of an amazing series.
The tiny Scottish village of Smailholm has seen better days. Two local children have been murdered, and the villagers suspect it's the work of witches. Ben Jordan is called upon to get to the bottom of this mystery, but he may soon find himself in over his head..."
Winner of 3 AGS Awards.
8. Infinity String
The sheer beauty of the graphics, makes this an amazing accomplishment. And a very sci-fi like scenario, enhanged with horror and mystery sections, really make this game by Sector 13 a must. Just wait till the main menu comes. You'll be crying from beauty.
Your name is Yerik Elnar. You are scientist working for United States. In late 2009 a ruins were found in Antartica by Russian explorers. A year later a complete research base was built to study the findings. Team consisted of 7 russians, 5 americans and 2 germans. 1 year later USA send you as an additional help. You arrive with the helicopter. But strange things begin to happen...
Winner of 1 AGS Award.
7. Apprentice Case 1: Deluxe
And here comes Apprentice Case 1: Deluxe. Widely considered as the most professional game in the AGS database, is indeed a Herculean effort to create a masterpiece and then outdo yourself twice. One by improving and adding more content, and secondly by making a better and/or equal sequel.
Finally, you can experience the Willowbean world with full voice. And in French or German. The deluxe version also features improved graphics, a totally redone soundtrack, and several bug fixes.
6. Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy
And here comes Nelly. No introduction is required.
Nelly Cootalot, fearsome pirate and lover of tiny and adorable creatures, is charged by the spirit of a dead buccaneer to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a fleet of birds known as spoonbeaks. Her adventure will bring her face to face with the nefarious Baron Widebeard as she uncovers corruption and wanton punning in the Barony of Meeth. This is my first complete AGS game. It is around medium length, and should take a few hours to play. I made it for, and about, my girlfriend. She enjoyed it and I hope you will too!
Winner of 5 AGS Awards.
5. Barn Runner: Forever Friday Part 2
And on place number 5, comes a personal favorite. I will pity you and not repeat myself. This is totally the best of the series and the most enjoyable. Ponch, PART 3 PLX.
The madness of the "Big Crazy" is tearing through Arc 19 and everyone is giving cannibalism a try! Detective Prick Peckard and Inspector Harry Sach must team up to save the city from itself. Track down multiple suspects and question each of them to learn if they played a part in bringing chaos to the streets of Arc 19: Evansville. Along the way, they'll contend with bargain hunting looters, blood thirsty robots, and the dim witted minions of an evil cult bent on destruction. But they'll have to move quickly. Time is unexpectedly running out in a city where the clocks stood still for twelve years. Can you get to the bottom of this mystery before all hope is lost? Question suspects! Shoot bad guys! Ignore traffic laws! Annoy the elderly! Use pop music in brutal ways!
Winner of my heart ^__^.
4. Cedric and Revolution
ELVES + REVOLUTION + CUTENESS. EPIC WIN.
Follow the adventure of Cedric and Victor as they try to get a demonstration up and running. It's not as easy as it sounds and they end up doing something completely different, but hey, at least they tried, eh? CatR is a fairly short and easygoing adventure.
Winner of 2 AGS Awards.
3. Shifter's Box - Outside In
When Ben started his releasing spree, with each and every game, everyone in the forums thought that the room for improvement was matched. Then Shifter's Box, came, and personally blew my mind. Still a favorite and sorry I keep saying that. But point stays :D
Sally is taking a walk outside one fine day when she comes across a strange box. Curious as to who would leave such a strange box lying around, she opens it - only to find herself in a very strange place indeed. Help Sally uncover the true nature of the box and find her way home!
Winner of 2 AGS Awards.
2. Trilby's Notes
Well, from all the games that Yahtzee himself, this is hands-down the best. Chzo is totally the most badass villain in the whole AGS database, and not restricted there. The game has an amazing interface, nice graphics, amazing plot, amazing music, what more can a man ask for?!!
Four years ago I was involved in the DeFoe Manor Incident. I and four other individuals were trapped inside a manor house by some kind of supernatural intelligence; a dark wraith with murder on its mind, the ghost of the original owner's youngest son. I was trapped inside DeFoe Manor for five days. I was forced to do something I can never forgive myself for. Possessed I may have been, but I was still watching through my eyes a man dying at my hands...
Winner of 4 AGS Awards.
1. Technobabylon: Part 2
Yeah, yeah, whine as much as you want. This is the best AGS game of all time. I don't believe any game has marked me and left me so envious of its plot like part 2 has. The way it unfolds is amazing and everything just pales in comparison.
"What is this, national suicide week?"
A young woman contemplates her end. A terror from the past comes to take its revenge. A police scientist finds himself blackmailed with the lives of the unborn children of his dead wife.
Forced to carry out the will of an anonymous voice on the interlinks, Dr Charlie Regis must try to perform both his official role as public servant, and the role that his antagonist has set for him. How long can he keep this conflict hidden from his friend and partner, Dr Lao? And more importantly, can he save the most important remaining part of his lost love?
Welcome to the future...
Welcome to Technobabylon
Overview:
This is a personal opinion list, if you don't like the games in the list, or feel a game is missing, don't judge us. I'd very much like to include them all, but that's not doable. Also there's only one game per franchise. Anyway, enjoy!!10. Permanent Daylight

AGS Episodic games: part 1
I just had the urge to go through the AGS games DB and catalogue how many series actually get beyond part 1. There are many great games in those "episode 1"s but too many of them get no further. Of course, some game series have lots of epsidoes, even though they are not planned as such. Oh, and a demo for "part 2" doesn't count.
So, there are 39 games in the DB described as "Episode/Part/Volume 1". Then there are 12 that are Part 2. And 3 that are part 3. There seems to be quite a tail off. Maybe those extra episodes will arrive some day, and of course I'm not counting some series like Princess Marian, Ben Jordan, Barn Runner, Lone Case and Maniac Mansion that did manage to get a lot of games in. Still, it is indicitive numbers even if they are flawed.

Because there's nothing funnier than burning bishops...
...unless of course, you're a bishop. Anyway, if you fancy a bit more literary fun, why not download the second "Enter the Story" game demo... Dante's Divine Comedy or just go and buy the thing.

Well, everyone's favourite undead bovine has announced the first episode of an episodic series of Ben/Dan games called Revenge of the Balloon-Headed Mexican, so their empire continues to expand.

Dualnames Sees All
*With a small help this timeWell, someone has been working on a game. That is of course of no interest to you. And me to be fair. But what if the game looks gorgeous..and what if the man making it is Ghost? Yeah, Bjorn Ludwig, the ags Ghost, the man behind Once Upon A Crime. I'm sure Ghost almost thought I wouldn't see this..:D
Anyway, about the game, from what I can tell it looks awesome, and from what Ghost tells, it's a puzzle based game, and it has something to do with a very famous band. Earth Wind and Fire(and water) that is.Speaking about all, what games in production I'm shitting my pants for?
1.Murran Chronicles 3: Beerdrinkers and Hellraisers
Well, poc301 is working on another installment of the series and without wanting to hit the other two with a bad comment this looks really better. He has taken some art tutorials and with a little help from the community he's GREATLY improved. Can't wait for this.Oh, and since it's Indynames hunting the lost games..have another one:
Note: Click on the picture for a little more info.
And another thing, something to play:
-Femspray:
Haven't played it yet to form my own opinion, but people find it funny and Babar said it's really quite a fun too. So that does it.But what game containing this can fail?
"It's got lots of nudity, some sexual bits, loads of gender swapping and even some humour too; So if any of these things offend (especially the last one), or you're a little on the young side (under 18) then this probably isn't for you (but you can use your own discretion)."

Games to wait for Eagerly!!
Well, it appears that AGS games WIP persons, have decided to post about it. So what games should we await for the days to come?
-A land of Magic I:
A short of quest for baldur's gate type of game, a type of adventure and rpg mix, containing as much realism as it's author Shockbolt can handle, or wishes to. Day/night circle, different seasons, it really got me into thoughts..
-This city at night:
Ben304 and Paolo, a team known for the winning entry of MAGS, Trance Pacific, had , have, or, will team up for another game, whose story will be probably as disturbing as the pacific's was. Most of all, I'm confused about how the credits will be with all those weird changes..they're like General Motors, a new chief every week.
-Jimmy the troublemaker:
Or how Dorothy would be if she was Obama..Mouth for war, has finally kept his promise and stopped posting about this only on the critics lounge. In fact he never made that promise, but hell, I was waiting for him to do so, the game has a really good animation from what I've shown and Mouth is trying to give the best quality he can.
-Get your mop, Vaderhaul strikes back!!!:
About time a fan game decided to go after the last Sierra game and expand one of the best game adventure series of all time. It appears that Roger Wilco, must get his trusty mop and clean the mess. The best part about this is that the graphics, appear not to be ripped. Yay for that.
-The Rogue Prince:
Now that's a really good looking game there. It might actually be decided to end up commercial in the end, but the quality of everything seems to be really cool. And outstanding. And yes, I really want to see this finished. The setting is similar to the games that use Rpg maker as an engine, yep the typical overheard view and the medieval fantasy setting, but its the feeling I get from the shots that make me shiver.
-Resonance:
I believe we've mentioned that around here, however, I've never mentioned my thoughts on this commercial project by Vince Twelve. Well, first the team members gathered to complete this game, are really outstanding, Vince, ProgZmax, Nikolas, MashPotato...it's surprising he can afford to get those people. When Vince released the first trailer from in-game footage, I found the interface not really flexible and kind of a puzzle itself, but with the new video he posted just a couple of days ago, I'd be lying not to say that this really looks amazing. The quality given to the project is superb and well, just watch the bloody video.

Common sense prevails
Hard to believe it, but common sense seems to have prevailed over in RON-land. Au Naturel has been added to their games database, so innocent young minds now have a choice on where to download their corrupting influences from. This came after a campaign from RON contributors asking for their stuff to be withdrawn from the site in protest, a boycotting of French Fries and Ron Jeremy threatened to rename himself Freedom Jeremy. The final straw came when yours truly threatened to remove his one piece of fanart from the site which was too much for the admins to bear and the capitulated.Of course, the whole thing was probably just a publicity stunt to try and kick-start RON.

The top 10 best AGS games series ever!
For more top 10s, see Celebrity AGSers Top Games and Dualnames' top 10
Well, there's lots of top 10 lists out there and I thought I'd try and compile my own, but I narrowed down my list of AGS games to about 60... so it was going to be hard work to throw out 50 of those. So, to make things easier, and also to be able to sneak loads more actual games in, I'm going to list the top 10 AGS games serieses ever. I'm not including series that only ever had one game made, because there are loads of them and non-adventures don't count, either. I'm also excluding remake series, but I'll give them an honourable mention (along with some others, so its not even a top 10, really!)
Anyway, here goes:
10. Robotragedy
Pijin Pastrana's grammar-challenged games are great fun and beautifully drawn. These 2 games may have some puzzling puzzles, but they are otherwise fab. Robotragedy, Robotragedy 2: Countdown to Doomsday.
9. Principles of Evil
Ola's Rogi is on a quest to locate babayaga in this pair of witchin' games. Again, great graphics but a few wee issues with the puzzles. Principles of Evil, Principles of Evil II.
8. Earl Bobby
First his shoes, then his Balls: can the Scottish aristo not keep track of anything? A unique art style and sense of humour pervade these surprisingly long games. Earl Bobby is looking for his Shoes, Earl Bobby is looking for his Balls.
7. Frank the Farmhand
This farm boy ends up embroiled in conspiracies, secret societies and ends up saving the world. Twice! Despite the name, involves little farming... Frank the Farmhand Part 1, Frank the Farmhand part 2.
6. Sydney
A homeless man, Sydney Claywood, from Ivan Dixon's comics, takes on getting a job, the world of fashion and will soon take over the woooorld! Sydney Finds Employment, Sydney Treads the Catwalk.
5. Reality on the Norm
Possibly the most eclectic bunch of games ever to be called a series. This is where such titans as Yahtzee and Dave Gilbert cut their adventure gaming teeth. There are classics such as Purity of the Surf, Lunchtime of the Damned, Apocalypse Meow and III Spy. Then there are weird, surreal ones too. Take your pick!
4. Ben Jordan, Paranormal Investigator
AGS's answer to the Harry Potter Septilogy is Grundislav's Octilogy. Who ya gonna call? Nope, not Ghostbusters, but globe-trotting troubleshooter Ben. Best of the series is Case 4 and Case 1 (Deluxe), Case 3 and Case 6 are also fab. Not that Case 2 and Case 5 are not good, but just not quite up there with the others. The last two cases are yet to be released.
3. Apprentice
These two games are the greatest pair of games, especially now the original has been Deluxified. Help sorcerer's apprentice Pib in his quest to become a fully fleged magician. The second game holds the record for most AGS Awards won by a single game. There is tell of a third instalment, but it's not yet been forthcoming. Apprentice 1 Deluxe, Apprentice II: The Knight's Move.
2. Trilby
Whether you count non-adventure The Art of Theft or not, Yahtzee's Trilby character has won many fans over the years and his games have many plaudits. Beginning with 5 Days a Stranger where cat burgalar Trilby gets trapped with ghosts in the DeFoe Mansion he is trying to rob, to the sci-fi 7 Days a Skeptic where the ghost returns to haunt a spaceship and then later slotted in between these come Trilby's Notes and 6 Days a Sacrifice bringing the whole supernatural happenings under one "Chzo Mythos".
1. Blackwell
Joey Mallone, sardonic sanguine spirit guide steals the show in the Blackwell series. Initially incarnated as freeware Bestowers of Eternity, the Blackwell series was reinvented as Dave Gilbert's money-spinning and critically acclaimed Blackwell Legacy and Blackwell Unbound. A free demo for the third part: Blackwell Convergence is available, too, and there will be further parts after that. These games have been so successful that they have won Dave a big contract with casual gaming portal Playfirst to create a whole set of Adventure games with their own SDK.
Honourable Mentions
Also well worth a look are the Barn Runner games, Lone Case, two Magsic games, Larry Vales adventures and Yahtzee's Rob Blanc series. Maniac Mansion Mania has a RoN feel to it, but too many are in German for me to be able to play. Kings Quest 1, 2 and 3 remakes exist and are all very good, but obviously, they are just remakes. Yahtzee also make the fun 1213 series with AGS, but they are not adventures and finally, I couldn't pass by this opportunity to mention the largest series of AGS games made by a single author, Princess Marian I-XI!
9. Principles of EvilOla's Rogi is on a quest to locate babayaga in this pair of witchin' games.
4. Ben Jordan, Paranormal InvestigatorAGS's answer to the Harry Potter Septilogy is Grundislav's Octilogy.
