Vince sweeps the floor

No, he hasn't given up game making to become the AGS janitor, but instead he has won everything at the AGS Awards, including host bicilotti's hand in marriage (this may be made up)! Resonance swept pretty much every category it was in for, except best player character. You can see the full IRC Award log here. A few people got dressed up for the Awards too with special forum avatars.

Grundislav managed to grab both player and NPC awards, Ben304 got the short game gong and Lifetime Achievement, CaptainD won best demo (and thinks it means doom for his game), Ghost got best non-adventure, and JJS won the Innovation award for his awesome platform porting abilities. And of course, Resonance was helped by its awesome team including Nikolas Sideris, Shane Stevens, Dave and Janet and many others.

NB Winning 12 awards in one ceremony is a new record: well done Mr W!

AGS Awards results out

So the awards ceremony ran over the weekend and the results are out. Pretty good night for Wadjet Eye games (who have also just got approval for Resonance to head to Steam) with Blackwell Deception and Gemini Rue walking off with a lot of awards!

You can read the IRC log of the ceremony here.

Domo Aggiato Mr Puzzleboto

AdventureGamer's annual awards (The Aggies) have chosen Dave and Ivy's AGS materpiece Puzzlebots in 3 categories: Best Gameplay, Best Concept and Best Indie. Congratulations and good luck for the final results. If you don't win, remember to pretend to look happy for the winner when the camera is on you!

Awards stats

So for the 2009 AGS Awards, I added the nominees and winners to the spreadsheet I did last year and nearly forgot about. I also added a new column of the Awards to Nominations ratio of anyone who has had more than 2 awards. Who has the highest success rate?

Well, top of the table is the host this year, bicilotti. He's the only guy there with a 100% hit rate of getting every award he's been nominated for. Congrats, bici man! Second place is auriond with a 0.555 average, then AGDI and Calin Leafshade. Meanwhile ratracer has had 8 nominations without any awards. Poor guy.

AGS Awards 2009 results

So, the best games of 2009 have been decided. Note that due to Dave not getting it in the games DB in time, Blackwell Convergence unfortunately wasn't eligible this year. Well done to bicilotti for his awesome hosting.

Anyway, Time Gentlemen Please, The Marionette and McCarthy chronicles all took 4 awards each, TGP getting Best Game. Congrats Zombie Cow, auriond and Calin Leafshade. Shifter's Box took 2 awards and one each went to Frantic Franko demo, Death Wore Endless Feathers, Aeronuts, AGS 180 Darts, and Shi-la of the Sith. Innovation award was given to Steve McCrea and Darth Mandarb got the Lifetime Achievement. Congratulations to all. A log of the IRC channel is here.

For A Feast Full of Awards!

Well, lots of famous AGS personalities (not including me), will announce(including me) the winners of the 2009 AGS Awards (not including me).

And the list goes:

Babar
Creed_malay
Dave Gilbert
Dualnames
Ghost
Grundislav
Mashpotato
m0ds
pablo
radiant
SSH

Quite a team that bicilotti has assembled! There's a chance that a parallel skype room will run by me, so we'll see on that.

22:00 GMT is the time that the ceremony will start on the AGS IRC room, so get your MIRC ready and operational!

Deliberations have begun

This year's AGS meet-up is under discussion in this thread and looks to be set for Italy. Somewhere.

Meanwhile I have it from a good source (i.e. they forgot to remove my access to the sekrit forum) that deliberations have started on the lifetime achievement and innovation awards. If you want to know what they're saying about YOU then let me know and I'll give you my paypal details.

Democracy in action

The final vote for the AGS Awards is open, so play all those games and then cast your ballot.

The awards take the bicci

Awesome Italian bicilotti has taken the awards off my hands and it only cost him a few million lire. Anyway, go and read the FYC and nominations threads and nominate to your heart's content.

Aggie Do Do Do, Push Pineapple, Shake a Tree

AdventureGamers have started announcing the results of their own (staff-selected) awards, called "The Aggies" and their readers' choice, too. The first instalment of results doesn't include any indie/freeware so no AGS yet, but all the nominees for best underground game were made in AGS, so we shall soon see...
