Rock N Roll Kid meets his Downfall and Breakdown..

Breakdown:
An entry for the April 2009 MAGS competition, and a really nicely done and funny made game. The story is the engine breaks down, you have to fix it. That simple. It contains some really funny cutscenes and it's definitely a must if you want to have some fun. The puzzles might trouble you a little bit. But they're quite logical. And as most people failed to find out it contains two referent objects to Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy game.

Rockabilly Kid or How Bad Can you want to Hung out with people?:

Mazooliin created a very nice entry based on this month's rules and guidelines. Klaus is also performing in the game as a non playable character, created to promote the plot. It's a very nicely drawn fun little game, Maz has come up with to win the MAGS. We wish him best of luck.

Downfall:
-We're not getting paid for this promo- (we wish we did)

Grim Reaper has released his horror adventure commercial game, a game remniscent of the silent hill series, but it's really cool looking and stylish. You can play the demo here, or just go the game's website and order it.

Au-to-mated Affection

Well, Gnome's lair has declared his list of 40 best freeware games, and Annie Android and Nanobots made it. He also noticed the sexist elements on Annie, as said already by me here.. Good job, sir Gnome. Click on the pics to go the games' download page.

What is readability anyway?

Gamasutra have an article up pondering the design of adventure games and suggesting that puzzles are too obscure sometimes and that is why adventures stopped ruling the earth. Somehow they call this concept "readability" which I don't really get, but hey.

5 years an ass--a MAGS host

Well, no Yahtzee didn't return to the forums for this month MAGS competition, and no.. he didn't draw the picture above, and no, well drop it already...nothing of this has to do with Yahtzee alright. But let's make the mist around the MAGS competition for May dissolve.

Rules:
* Only classic point and click adventure games are allowed.

* As the topic is "5 years a mags host" a "host" should play a main part in the story. For example:

+ A host invites a number of people and is suddenly killed... - remember "Murder by Death"?
+ A (g)host story based in a hotel - maybe a mix of "Psycho" and "Hotel California".
+ A dog hosts a number of fleas that want to take control of him - "Nanobots on a Dog" Wink
These are just examples - no need to go for these ideas. You're totally free in the way you include the host. The host does not need to be the player character.
+You visit SSH's house and he kicks you out because he hates people. Especially humans.

Prize?! Oh, yes apart from the glory, honour and the like, you get...(drums go here):

All these inventory items can be yours - for real! That's the prize for the winner of this month's competition!

Two room or not to room?

Uber-artmeister Ghost has some thoughts on his blog about the problem of rooms that don't do anything, or perhaps the problem of rooms that always do something. On one hand, parts of Syberia have ages of tedious walking through rooms that have no purpose, on the other, does everything you see in a game have to be plot point or puzzle?

Two review for you

Three Two One

What, didn't I post this already? Dear me, the fact that I may lose my job must be getting to me!

Anyway... CJ has posted AGS 3.2 beta 1, with a revamp of the sound system amongst some other handy tweaks.
